Backups & restore

Automatic daily backups, on-demand snapshots, the 7-day retention window, and one-click restore.

Helicarrier Cloud backs up your managed databases automatically, and lets you take snapshots on demand and restore with one click.

For PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, and Redis, Helicarrier takes a daily backup without any configuration. Backups run on a schedule and are stored for you.

Need a snapshot right now — before a risky migration, say? Trigger an on-demand backup from the database’s Backups tab. It runs immediately and joins the same retention pool as the automatic ones.

Backups are kept for 7 days. After each run, backups older than 7 days are pruned — with one safeguard: the most recent backup is always kept, even if it is older than 7 days, so a database that has not been backed up recently never ends up with none.

To restore, open the Backups tab, pick a backup, and choose Restore. Helicarrier restores that snapshot into the database. Restores overwrite current data, so use an on-demand backup first if you want a fallback point.

You can also download a backup to keep a copy outside the platform.

Migrating in from another host? Helicarrier can import data from an external PostgreSQL or MongoDB by connection URL — it runs a dump-and-restore inside the managed container. This is handy when moving from another provider; point it at your old database and let it pull the data across.
