Dedicated IPs

A static outbound address for allowlists — buy one and use it across all of your projects and services.

Many databases, payment providers and partner APIs only accept connections from addresses you’ve allowlisted. A dedicated IP gives your services a static outbound address of your own, so you can add one address to those allowlists and know only your traffic comes from it.

One IP is enough for most accounts. You can attach the same dedicated IP to every project and every service you have. You only need a second one if you want different traffic to leave from different addresses.

  • Outbound only. Connections your services make to the internet leave from the dedicated IP. Traffic coming in to your apps is unchanged, so keep your domains and DNS records as they are. The address doesn’t accept incoming connections.
  • Private traffic is unaffected. Connections between your services, and to your Helicarrier databases, stay on the private network.
  1. Open Marketplace → Dedicated IPs in the dashboard.
  2. Click Get a dedicated IP. You can give it a label, such as “Payments egress”.
  3. Read the terms (the link opens them), tick the box, and confirm.

Only the account owner can buy or release dedicated IPs. Anyone on the account can attach them to projects and services they work on.

You can attach a dedicated IP in four places:

WhereApplies toTakes effect
Marketplace → Dedicated IPs → Attach to projectevery service in the project, in every environmentwithin about a minute, no redeploy
New project dialog → Dedicated outbound IPthe new projectas soon as its services start
Project canvas → right-click → Dedicated IP…every service in the projectwithin about a minute, no redeploy
A service’s Networking tabthat service only, overriding the project’s IPon the service’s next deploy (Redeploy now is offered)

Add the address to your allowlists before you attach it. While a change applies, traffic can leave from the shared address for up to a minute.

The service’s Networking tab always shows which address its outbound traffic uses, and whether that IP is the service’s own or inherited from its project.

A dedicated IP costs $5 per month. You can see the current price on the Dedicated IPs page before you buy.

  • You’re charged the full monthly price for every month you hold the IP, even for part of a month. It’s never prorated.
  • Buying an IP charges the current month straight away.
  • Releasing an IP early does not refund that month. It only stops future months.
  • Your IP keeps the price you bought it at, even if the list price changes later.

It shows on your bill under Add-ons.

  • Each account can hold up to 5 dedicated IPs.
  • An IP can only be attached to projects and services in the account that owns it.

On Marketplace → Dedicated IPs, click Release next to the IP. It stops carrying your traffic right away, and any project or service using it goes back to the shared address.

You can’t get the same address back after you release it. It isn’t given to anyone else for 3 months, but after that it may be issued to another customer. Remove it from your allowlists before you release it.
